Members' assembly of 24/06/2026
More than 70 members attended the REGIOS members' assembly, which focused on current projects, key investment plans and the strategic partnership with PÜSPÖK. The spotlight was on expanding wind, PV and storage solutions and on strengthening the regional energy supply and citizen participation in the Mühlviertel.
REGIONAL TAILWIND FOR WIND POWER
More than 400 visitors came to our events in Freistadt and Mönchdorf to learn about the planned wind projects. The focus was on scientific findings on climate, energy and the economy, and on the importance of investing quickly to avoid high follow-on costs and secure the regional energy supply for the long term.
Pensioner and senior citizens' representatives visit the GLUATNEST
Around 60 people from both the Pensioners' Association and the Seniors' Federation in the Freistadt district accepted the invitation from the Regios energy cooperative and the company Innovametall.
The aim of the visit was to give an insight into the two companies' various fields of activity and to dive into the melting pot of ideas and promising projects at the Gluatnest.
3rd ENERGY TALK AT THE GLUATNEST
On 26 March the third Energy Talk took place successfully at the Gluatnest. The many visitors were presented with the latest developments around the Spörbichl super-hybrid power plant. Topics such as efficient grid use, the combined deployment of wind power, agri-PV and battery storage, and the effects on grid stability and regional supply took centre stage. The expert contributions were complemented by insights into Linz Netz's planned grid expansion in the Mühlviertel and the central region, international experience with hybrid power plants and the various ways of participating in the energy transition in the Mühlviertel. In addition, Josef Plank of IG Windkraft discussed the Renewables Expansion Acceleration Act presented at midday.
Spörbichl wind farm – next expansion stage planned with REGIOS
At the turn of the year, the Spörbichl wind farm officially passes into the ownership of the Regios energy cooperative Freistadt. This closes a significant circle: 25 years ago (1999), amid the Temelín protests, the installation was initiated with great commitment by citizens of the region and financed collectively.
2nd ENERGY TALK AT THE GLUATNEST
On 20 November the second Energy Talk took place successfully at the Gluatnest. Participants were presented with current energy projects in the fields of photovoltaics, wind power and energy storage. Expert input and practical insights into energy infrastructure, grid expansion, the legal framework and ways of participating in the energy transition rounded off the event.
1st ENERGY TALK AT THE GLUATNEST
On 18 September our first Energy Talk took place successfully. We were able not only to present our current projects to the participants, but also — thanks to our guest speakers DI Martin Krill from the planning office Profes and DI Thomas Rechberger from Linz Netz GmbH — to offer fascinating insights into energy infrastructure and planned wind energy projects.

From 14 to 17 August at the Messe Mühlviertel we held many interesting conversations and made valuable contacts during the Erlebnismesse.

A ONCE-IN-A-CENTURY OPPORTUNITY FOR THE MÜHLVIERTEL
At the press conference on 29/07/2025 at the Gluatnest Freistadt, the Regios energy cooperative emphasised that using regional renewable energy sources represents a once-in-a-century opportunity for the population and the Mühlviertel as a business location.

Merger conversion completed
We are pleased to announce that the commercial register court has completed and approved the merger conversion (transfer) of Helios Sonnenstrom GmbH into Regios Energiegenossenschaft SCE mit beschränkter Haftung. The entry in the commercial register was made on 26 July 2025.
REGIOS celebrates its birthday
On 17 July 2025, following the supervisory board meeting, the first of many REGIOS birthdays was celebrated.

A full house at the 1st REGIOS general assembly
More than 80 voting members accepted the invitation to the 1st general assembly of the Regios energy cooperative. Alongside numerous guests of honour from politics and business, representatives of the Upper Austrian Raiffeisen Association — commissioned with preparing the audit report and the financial review — were also present.
The two board members were proud to report that a positive consolidated result was achieved in the very first (short) financial year.
REGIOS launches expansion stage 1 and invests over €1 million in the region
Last week the young energy cooperative received the funding commitment for 3 larger PV projects with a combined capacity of 1.5 MWp. This secures the basis for the economic operation of the first PV projects, and the investment of over €1 million can begin.

Our energy — achieving more together
The Regios energy cooperative's event in the Freistadt exhibition hall marked the official launch of the citizen participation scheme. Around 700 people accepted the invitation.
Regios wins 1st place at the Raiffeisen Genius Award 2024
With its goal of making the Freistadt region more energy-independent through the joint development and operation of green electricity installations, the Regios energy cooperative prevailed over 48 entries and took 1st place at the Raiffeisen Genius Award 2024. At the award ceremony in Alpbach, Tyrol, Regios received an award along with a voucher worth €15,000.
Founding assembly
in July 2024
After an intensive preparation phase, the Regios Energiegenossenschaft SCEmbH, based at Galgenau 28, 4240 Freistadt, was founded on 17 July 2024. Its 41 founding members include citizens and entrepreneurs as well as municipalities from the Freistadt region.
Regios has been entered in the commercial register since 25 September 2025.
